若一神社（にゃくいちじんじゃ）1 開運出世の神様 (Nyakuichi Shrine – This shrine’s god is good luck and rise in life)

今日は京都の南区にある若一神社（にゃくいちじんじゃ）です。

御祭神は若一（にゃくいち）王子。
この御方は、紀州熊野・熊野権現の第一王子です。

平清盛の別邸「西八条殿」跡に鎮座してます。（もしくは西八条殿の西側に位置していたか？）
仁安元年（1166）、清盛公が熊野詣でにいったとき、「土中に隠れたる御神体、世に出し奉斎せよ」とお告げがあり、帰京後に邸内を探していたところ、東方築山より光を放った若一王子の御神体があらわれ、清盛は社を造り鎮守しました。

そして翌年、清盛が太政大臣に任せられたため、開運出世の神様と崇敬されています。
入ってみると少しせまい境内ですが、真夏でも大木の下で涼しささえ感じることができ、ちょっとしたオアシスです。

ここもあまり観光地としては有名ではないですが、ちょっと静かな場所で神聖な空気を感じたいときにおすすめですよ。
最近、この神社の近くに食パンで有名な『乃が美はなれ京都店』のお店もでき、もし運が良ければとても美味しい食パンが買えるかもしれません。
またコメダ珈琲・西大路八条店もあり、ちょっと休憩したいときにもいいですよ。

Today is “Nyakuichi shrine” in South side of Kyoto.
This temple’s God is “Prince Nyakuichi”.
He is the first prince of Kumano Gongen.

This shrine is located in the ruins of Nishi-Hachijo-den, another residence of Kiyomori TAIRA.
1166, when Kiyomori went to the Kumano Pass, God said, “Take out and worship the divine the God’s body hidden in the earth”.
When he returned to Kyoto and was looking for the garden of the house, the divine object of Prince Nyakuichi who shed light from the east appeared, and Kiyomori built a shrine there.

And the next year, because Kiyomori was entrusted to the Foreign Minister, This shrine’s god is good luck and rise in life!

The entrance is a bit narrow, but even in summer, you can feel the coolness under the big tree, and it’s a little oasis.
It is not a famous tourist destination here either, but it is recommended when you want to feel the sacred air in a quiet place.

Recently, there is also a famous “Nogami” shop near this shrine, and if you are lucky you may be able to buy some very delicious bread.

■若一神社までのアクセス
・四条烏丸から(13番バス) → 四条烏丸の交差点、南西のバス停から13番のバスに乗る。四条烏丸から20分ほどで西大路八条のバス停で下車。そこから目の前、徒歩1分(50m)です。
・京都駅から(208番バス) → 京都駅北口バスターミナルのB3乗り場から208番のバスに乗る。京都駅から20分ほどで西大路八条のバス停で下車。そこから目の前、徒歩1分(50m)です。

■Access to Nyakuichi Jinjya(Nyakuichi shrine)
・From Shijo-karasuma(Bus no.13) → Shijo-karasuma intersection and the southwest bus stop, and Take the No.13 bus.
Get off at Nishioji-Hachijyo bus stop in about 20 minutes from Shijo-karasuma. From there it’s 1 minutes(50m) by walk.

・From Kyoto station → Take bus No.208 from B3 bus stop at Kyoto Station North Exit Bus Terminal
Get off at Nishioji-Hachijyo bus stop in about 20 minutes from Shijo-karasuma. From there it’s 1 minutes(50m) by walk.
