西院・野々宮神社（さんいん・ののみやじんじゃ）Saiin Nonomiya Jinja shrine

さぁ、今日は西大路四条付近。阪急・西院駅エリアです。

西大路四条の南側の歩道を西へしばらく歩き、四条中学校のバス停を過ぎてすぐに養老四川橋が見えてきます。その橋の手前の道を川に沿って、150mほど南へ行くと右手に見えてきました。西院野々宮神社（さんいんののみやじんじゃ）の鳥居です。小さな境内です。

この地は平安時代、伊勢神宮の斎王（巫女として奉仕）に選ばれた皇女が伊勢に赴（おもむ）かれるまでの間、心身を清めるために「野々宮（ののみや）」が築かれた場所です。
嵯峨野宮町の「野宮神社」は有名ですが、「西院野々宮神社」「斎宮神社（さいぐうじんじゃ。嵯峨野宮ノ元町）」「斎明神社（さいめいじんじゃ。嵯峨柳田町）」のの四ヶ所が現在、野々宮跡として残っています。

Walk for a while to the west on the footpath on the south side of Nishioji Shijo, and after passing the bus stop of Shijo Junior High School, you can see the Yoro Sichuan Bridge. During the Heian period, “Nonomiya” was built to purify the mind and body until the princess chosen as the Saio (served as a shrine maiden of Ise Shrine) was worshiped by Ise. It is a well-placed place.
“Nonomiya Shrine” in Saganomiya cho is famous, but there are four locations: “Saiinin Nonomiya Shrine”, “Saigu Shrine (Sagano Miyanomoto cho)” and “Saimei Shrine (Sagano Yanagida cho)” It is considered to be Nonomiya.

ご祭神は

・倭姫命（ヤマトヒメノミコト）。
第11代天皇垂仁天皇（すいにんてんのう）の第4皇女。初代の斎王。倭姫は天照大神（アマテラスオオミカミ）鎮座の地を伊勢に定めたと伝えられる。一説には第10代天皇崇神天皇（すじんてんのう）の皇女である豊鍬入姫命（とよすきいりひめのみこと）を初代斎王とする。

・布施内親王（ふせないしんのう。？〜812）。
第50代天皇桓武天皇第5皇女。平安京遷都後、最初の斎王。797年に当地に入り、父桓武天皇の崩御に伴い斎王を退き、北野に住んだといわれる。

ご利益は、心願成就（しんがんじょうじゅ）→ 心の中で大切にしているお願い事をひとつだけかなえて下さる事。

もう一つのご利益は女人守護（にょにんしゅご）。古くは養蚕、機織り、織女（しょくじょ）の守り神とされ、のちに女性の守り神とされて現在に至っています。
江戸時代より、次に訪れる春日神社の御旅所（10月第2日曜日に2基の神輿が渡御）となっています。

Since the Edo period, it has become a travel agency for the next Kasuga Shrine (two Mikoshi on October 2nd).

斎王について
一度は途絶えていた斎王ですが、第40代天皇天武天皇（てんむてんのう）より制度的に整えられ、第96代天皇後醍醐天皇（ごだいごてんのう）の代までの660年間、60人余りの斎王が生まれました。
天皇の即位とともに卜定（ぼくじょう。占う）により、未婚の内親王か女王が選ばれました。
斎王が都を出発する日、天皇は斎王の額髪（ひたいがみ。前髪）に小さな櫛を挿　（さ）す儀礼が大極殿で行われました（別れのお櫛）。

その後、総勢500人の斎宮列が近江、鈴鹿峠を越え、5泊6日の旅を終えて、伊勢の斎宮に入ります。
伊勢では数百人もの人が斎王に仕え、斎王は、天皇の崩御や攘位、肉親などの死去にともない退きました。

横にまわると、幹周り70Cm程の大木が根ごと神殿の手前で倒れていました。あと2mずれていたら直撃です。去年の9月4日、京都市を襲った台風21号の影響でしょうか。神殿が被害から逃れられた事、改めて倭姫命の霊力を感じました。
